Currently, we have an open position for a Fire Alarm Technician in Training. The primary responsibilities are establishing fire/security alarm systems by helping to install equipment; running and pulling wire; assist in programming equipment; adhere to codes, regulations and standards.
The fire alarm technician helper has a variety of roles that include, but are not limited to, assisting technicians during the conducting of tests and inspects of fire alarms, aid in trouble shooting and completing repairs with minimal supervision, and interacting with clients in the field to ensure work is being completed properly and in a timely manner. Fire alarm technician helpers are also expected to maintain records by documenting installation, service, and testing, as well as maintain a safe and secure work environment. Another key aspect to this role is to help in making recommendations for both system instillation and services.
Work Environment/Job Conditions
This position requires frequent walking, standing, bending, and reaching. He/she must be able to navigate the jobsite and must comply with all company safety requirements in the office and on the jobsite. Heavy equipment may be used and he/she needs to be able to lift weighty objects.
Job Skills/Experience:
- Assist while conducting testing and inspections of fire alarm systems
- Help make recommendations for both system installation and services
- Aid in troubleshooting and completing repairs with minimal supervision
- Always maintain safe and secure work environment by following safe practices
- Maintain records by documenting installation, service and testing
- Interacting with clients in the field to ensure the work is being completed properly and in a timely manner
- Able to work unsupervised and highly self-motivated and detail oriented
- Must have valid Driver License and clean DMV record
- Must have basic tools including hand tools
Education and/or Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in electrical field
- Knowledge of current industry standards and new technologies
